MaineStock creates premium products from local farmers who have raised their animals on a primarily grass-based diet according to natural or organic standards. These animals live natural stress-free lives and are not treated with antibiotics, hormones or fed animal-by-products and therefore produce healthy, great-tasting meat. We consider ourselves partners with the farmers who share these standards and practices.
MaineStock is USDA inspected, GAP Certified, Certified Organic and Humane Certified. The ethical treatment of animals is one of our basic tenets. We promote respect between our customers, farmers and animals. We insist that special attention and consideration is paid to the handling, transport and processing of all of our animals.
Our line of hand made products will incorporate regional characteristics intrinsic to the Northeast. A distinct “terroir” of geography, climate and animal breeds combined with time honored methods are used to preserve and enhance. Inspired by the European appellation systems, where according to their rules, an appellation is the name of a country, region or locality used to designate a product that originates there, the quality and characteristics of which are due to the geographical situation, including natural and human factors.
MaineStock products will include charcuterie and salumi such as ham, sausage, bacon, terrines, pâtés, and confit products.
We believe in a working connection with our suppliers. We will reward livestock farmers who work with us on pricing that will enable finished products to reach the market at a reasonable cost to consumers. Our co-branding initiative will give them the exposure they deserve and additional income by returning a percentage of sales revenue to those in the program. This is a great option for farms who do not wish to market their own meat.
Our “house” label, whether on a prime steak or a smoked sausage, will signify a quality, price competitive option for consumers.
