MaineStock will be the leading USDA-inspected livestock processing facility in Maine and a first class value added producer, creating quality artisanal meat products under the MaineStock label and as private label items for other businesses. MaineStock will provide transparency and accountability for the animals it processes. We will have a plant that is environmentally sustainable and a plant that is run efficiently in order to keep processing fees competitive for Maine farmers.
This year round facility will stimulate the economy through job creation and retention of processing employees and will provide increased economic opportunities for Maine farmers. The Maine Department of Agriculture has cited the lack of USDA Inspected meat processing facilities in Maine as a barrier to the positive growth of the local foods sector and thus economic development in rural Maine communities.
